Can You Tune Your Used VW Golf?
Among all the cars VW made, Volkswagen Golf was one of the most famous and most sold cars. Ever since it has been brought into the market, people good with the car engines and who understand their mechanisms, have gone as far as possible to dig into the engine and every possible part of volkswagen golf to customize it and turn it into a beast. VW itself has changed the design of VW Golf more than 6 times, and presently running model is the MK VI or MK6. This has been the most customized car, and there are a line of products that help you do the customization specifically for VW Golf.
Today we'll discuss a few things that you can do to customize your used cars volkswagen golf.
Tires are the key to Road Grip
You don't need to keep those stock tires just because VW has given it. And moreover your used cars volkswagen golf would have old tires. You can remove the stock tires and put anything between 18 to 19 inch alloy wheels from company like BBS if you have a new version of used volkswagen golf like say MK4 to 6. But in case you have a used vw golf car of version 1 or A2 or A1, then it is advised that you go for a tire that is around 15-16 inches in diameter. Try to get tires that have good road grip and sticks to the road surface.
You Don't Need That Suspension
Get your jack, and bring down the suspension to reduce the ride height. Also tighten the suspension so that you don't have a bouncy ride. All volkswagen golfs need these modification. One company that makes various products that could be used for customizing the used cars volkswagen golf is Neuspeed. You can also install the lowering springs which can be combined with the performance shocks. Go a step ahead and combine the spring and shock using the coilover suspension which will make them into one unit. This would also give you a maximum factor of adjust-ability. Go buy the anti-roll bars which can be installed on your used volkswagen golf in order to cut down the amount of lean that happens when your taking a sharper turn on the road. On top of all these if you could get a strut brace installed with a bolt in between the shock towers, that would certainly reduce the flex in the chassis.
Does Your Engine Speak German?
What we mean to ask is, does your engine suffice for your car to be customized? Its okay that you have a used volkswagen golf, but when you are going on to customize it, it is not okay to have a used cars volkswagen golf's old engine. Its not that it is old, but it might be torn off. You can replace the torn out engine with a newer VR6 engine. But if you are deciding to keep the old engine, get the air filters replaced with the sporty ones. You can even add an additional exhaust which would add to the sound effect and also customize the intake and cams.
Can I Borrow Your Chairs?
Point is, is this car for your mama and dada? if not, then do you really need all those seats inside? So first thing you can do is go ahead and remove all the seats and install the sport version of seats. You can get good seats from GTI which happens to be the VW's sport version of Golf. Better off, get a good sport seating form Recaro and modify your steering with the ones that is manufactured by MOMO or any such brand.
Do I Look Good?
Once you are done from the inside, its time that you beautify the exteriors. Because even from the outside your car should look good. A few things you can do is, add a few bumpers on the surface and put in a nice spoiler if you have a hatchback. You can even get a hood for your engine if your budget does allow. Get a few xeon lights and change the headlight of your used VW Golf. Also put the side bumpers, and if you are very fancy, add in some neon lights to the underneath of the car. Let it glow in the night :)
